Giddings Pleads Guilty

SPRINGFIELD -- Springfield resident Harley Giddings,
23, pleaded guilty to two counts of false pretenses in
Windsor District Court on Nov. 18.

Springfield Police Chief Douglas
Johnston spent the afternoon of Nov. 9
guiding public tours of his department's new
Clinton Street police station, which
occupies the old Lucas Industries building
next to the GoGo gas station.
Burglaries in Weston
WESTON -- Vermont State Police suspect that the same person
may be responsible for two burglaries in Weston on Nov. 17.
Police said the burglaries took place at residences on
Holden Hill Road and Johnson Hill Road sometime over the
previous weekend, about half a mile apart. One or more people,
police said, forced the front doors open, and that tire marks
discovered in both places matched.
Police also said that the same vehicle pulled into a number
of driveways in the area. Anyone who might have seen
suspicious vehicles on Holden Hill Road or Johnson Hill Road,
or might have information on these incidents, is asked to call
Tpr. Peters at 875-2112.
Ellis Block to be
Stabilized

SPRINGFIELD -- The town of Springfield is
applying for an emergency grant to make the
burned-out Ellis Block safe for the winter.
Ludlow Village residents will be asked to go to the polls on Nov.
18 to approve $3,510,000 to upgrade the town's water system.
N. Springfield Man Crashes
SHREWSBURY -- A man from North Springfield allegedly caused
substantial damage to his 2005 Toyota Camry and faces a charge of
driving under the influence following a car accident near the
Appalachian Trail on Nov. 17.
Vermont State Police said they received a report of an erratic
driver on Route 103 in Shrewsbury at about 3:45 p.m. Not long after
that, police received information that the car had crashed.
The driver, Edward D. Ames, 71, was wearing his seat belt and
was not injured; police said that a breath test yielded a blood-alcohol
content of .163 percent.
Springfield experienced its first taste of winter
last week, when snow dusted the region.
The Ludlow Town Hall restoration finished up
recently with the installation of stadium seating in
the auditorium. The new seats allow for clear views
of meetings and of the stage.
